edit oct 2021: I'm disabling comments on this one, not because I personally can't handle all the shitty comments (I've been dealing with them just fine for years on this hellsite lmfao), but because people who use these types of stamps and are just innocently existing shouldn't have to see all that negativity etc. Nothing offends me anymore, but there are lots of kids who are harmlessly discovering themselves.
This and a lot of my other stamps were made in 2015/2016, and people still view and use these to this date. A lot of my opinions have changed over the years, I don't like the way I worded certain things in the past but on this particular issue, my opinion remains (for the most part) unchanged.
Mentally ill people are not 'glorifying/romanticising mental illness' by simply existing and not being ashamed! Nobody thinks mental illness is something to be 'proud' of or whatever, but it's also not something to be ashamed of. I'm also not romantisising mental illness in my decision to make this stamp 'sparkly and cute', a) that's just how I make my stamps and b) would you prefer it to be dark and depressing or smtn?? like what do u want.
A lot of people also brought up the whole 'only a self diagnosed person would use this because they think they're special' or whatever bs, which is just untrue. I have absolutely no shame in talking about my struggle with mental illness or being public abt it. I'm professionally diagnosed because I'm lucky enough to live in a country w free healthcare, but lots of other people don't have that option and I see no issue with doing lots of research and self-advocating. I totally understand the concern with self-diagnosis but some people have no alternative really. I *promise* you, absolutely nobody googles 'insert mental illness' and clicks on one article, skims it and goes "yup.... I've got this disorder", they spend hours and hours on this shit.
+ even if I sit here and say "I'm prof diagnosed with x y and z and I see no issue w this stamp" people would still call my ass a liar. Prof diagnosis doesnt come with a certificate of authenticity.
It's ALWAYS the people who love to talk shit abt people being too sensitive and love being 'offensive' who then get offended over shit like this, y'all are the ones crying over a STAMP.
